As someone who witnessed diplomatic history through the Cold War until now, I have seen first-hand how the use of trusted technologies plays a vital role in advancing freedom. I could not imagine a better organization for which to share my skills and help achieve its mission.

The work of the Global Tech Security Commission is critical to maintaining freedom and our way of life. Data has become the life blood of our companies, industries and technologies; We must protect it so it is used to advance freedom versus restraining it.

We are in the midst of a real technology adoption race. Our competitors are moving fast in their effort to develop and use new technologies to undermine our collective security, and seek to undermine our democracies, our institutions and our values. We cannot take our technological edge for granted.

As scientific innovation opens new frontiers, it’s critical that those discoveries serve humanity and are not weaponized by those with malicious intent towards us. Advanced technologies must be developed responsibly and trusted not to infringe on the universal rights of individuals. The Trust Doctrine at the heart of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy is the right approach toward building a better and safer world. I am thrilled to join the Institute’s Advisory Council and look forward to contributing toward its important mission.

The Krach Institute of Tech Diplomacy is critical for the advancement of policy around the world, getting the intersection of technology and diplomacy right is a linchpin for societal impact.

America's tremendous technological foundation has served as the engine for spectacular innovations, a foundation of our economic competitiveness, and the bedrock of our national security. Its sustainment is absolutely essential to the continued health and wealth of the nation.

Technology and diplomacy are two words that one does not often hear together. But that is changing, and here at the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, we are leading that change. Our goal is to expand American leaders’ professional capabilities and equip them to advocate for America’s role as the world’s leading innovator and developer of technologies that improve life for everyone, no matter where they live. We also work closely with leaders from allied countries to partner in the universal cause of freedom through the deployment of technology. Diplomatic engagement on critical, cutting-edge technologies is more important now than ever.

Let’s dedicate the best of technology to safeguarding against the exploitation of technological advancements, ensuring these innovations strengthen and unite society rather than undermine it.

The strategic importance of space and near-space technologies for the US cannot be overstated, as it is impossible to envision US national security and economic prosperity without a commitment to ensuring its access to space. If the US fails to lead all aspects of space, including satellite communications, reconnaissance, surveillance, natural resource exploration and acquisition, zero-gravity manufacturing, earth observation, lunar and cislunar exploration and operations, planetary exploration and operations and astrophysical observations, the result would have dire implications for many US industries—such as commercial, financial services, health care, and media—as well as military operations.

Global influence and advantage increasingly hinge on how well we fuse public sector purpose with private sector innovation. I’ve operated on both sides—modernizing government with AI and data, and now helping the public sector adopt private-sector agility. The Krach Institute is advancing that fusion, giving the U.S. a decisive edge in the global tech race.

Good diplomacy avoids conflicts and wars. The world today needs transformational leaders who can think creatively and compassionately to drive good diplomacy and make the world and the planet a safe and thriving place for all. By leveraging the power of technology and mentorship at scale, we will create, grow and deploy transformational leaders globally and bring to fruition the full promise of freedom, along with its ability to spur healthy growth and peace. I am honored to be invited to join the Advisory Council of KITDP and look forward to contributing towards its mission

Use of trusted technologies by its member countries and their corporations will transform the way technologies are being used today. This will transcend the trust factor of the trusted technology’s partners ahead and will enable society to have a safer and brighter future for citizens all over the globe.
