Michael Greenwald

Michael B. Greenwald is a senior executive at Amazon Web Services serving as the Global Head for Financial Innovation and Digital Assets. Michael represents Amazon on the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Technology Advisory Committee. He co-authored an Amazon publication titled: The convergence of artificial intelligence and digital assets: A new dawn for financial infrastructure. Previously, he was a managing director of Digital Asset Education and Chief Geopolitical Risk Officer for global wealth and asset management firm AlTi Tiedemann Global. He was the first U.S. Treasury attaché to Qatar and Kuwait, acting as the principal financial diplomat to the banking sector in those nations, and, prior, he was in senior policy and intelligence roles in Europe and Africa for two presidential administrations and three Treasury Secretaries from 2010-2017.

He is a former adjunct professor at Columbia and Boston University, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council as well as Center for New American Security, and Deputy Director of the Trilateral Commission. He was a former fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center where he published over 50 articles. He holds a Juris Doctor from Boston University, a Master’s from Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in History from George Washington University and is currently pursuing the General Management Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School.

Raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, he lives in Palm Beach, Florida with his wife Nolan and served on the Board of The Town of Palm Beach Investment Committee. He was honored by Palm Beach Illustrated as one of the city’s 100 most influential business leaders.
