Stephen Renna

As Senior Managing Director with Ankura’s Global Strategies & Solutions Group, Renna advises companies on incorporating into their international competitiveness strategies the tools the U.S. government created to foster this competitiveness. He also advises foreign companies seeking access to U.S. markets, partnerships, capital and credit.

As the Chief Banking Officer at the U.S. EXIM Bank, Renna oversaw the execution of the trade financing solutions EXIM offers to empower U.S. exporters around the world. EXIM has a portfolio of $50b with a pipeline of $45b. Prior to this, Renna was Executive Director, The Advocacy Center at the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Advocacy Center supports U.S. companies bidding on foreign government contracts by coordinating U.S. to foreign government communications on behalf of the companies. During Renna’s tenure, the Advocacy Center facilitated U.S. companies winning 200 foreign government contracts with a total project value of $147 billion. Renna served for five years as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council – the trade association of the $4 trillion commercial real estate finance industry. Prior to joining CREFC, Renna was President of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers. NAREIM is the leading association of companies engaged in the $2 trillion real estate investment management business.

Renna also was Senior Vice President and Counsel at The Real Estate Roundtable, a Washington, DC based national public policy organization representing the commercial and multifamily real estate industry. Renna practiced law and specialized in real estate taxation, partnerships and public and privately placed investment syndications.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC and his BA with honors from Fairfield University.
