Rob Strayer is the executive vice president of global policy at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). He leads the technology sector’s advocacy in major global markets on a wide range of issues, including cybersecurity, privacy, data flows, and artificial intelligence.
Prior to joining ITI, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Cyber and International Communications Policy at the U.S. State Department, leading dozens of dialogues with foreign governments on technology regulation and cybersecurity policy.
He also was appointed to be the U.S. ambassador for the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference in 2018. Before working at the State Department, he was the general counsel for the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and practiced telecommunications law at WilmerHale.
