Makoto Gonokami

Makoto Gonokami is the current president of RIKEN, a Designated National Research and Development Institute that conducts research on a range of scientific areas including physics, chemistry, medical science and engineering. He was previously president of the University of Tokyo, and dean its Graduate School of Science. Gonokami has also spent many years as a professor in the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Science and Graduate School of Engineering. He also holds multiple degrees from the university including a BS, MS, and PhD from the School of Science.
