John G. Vonglis serves as Chairman & CEO of RCIG Technologies, Inc., Chairman of NANO Nuclear Energy’s Strategic Initiatives Advisory Board, and senior advisor to the President of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Chairman of GAMCO Investors Inc., and The Hudson Group, LLC, among others. Prior to this, he served as the Senate confirmed Chief Financial Officer of the U.S.
Department of Energy. Concurrently, John was appointed by the President as acting Director of DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E). He served also as Chief Risk Officer. John’s private sector experiences, from analyst to CFO and COO, include positions within aerospace and defense, management consulting, energy, high-technology, telecommunications, and alternative investments.
From 2002 – 2009, John served at the Department of Defense in a series of positions, culminating as acting Assistant Air Force Secretary (CFO). Additionally, he performed the duties of the Under Secretary. A Bush appointee, John served in a transition role at DoD with the incoming Obama administration.
John is a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve with 34 years’ service in Army and Joint service special operations. In addition to his operational assignments, he has lectured at the U.S. Military Academy and advised the Army Cyber Institute. In 2000, Mr. Vonglis was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from his native New York. As a former Eagle Scout, John is the recipient of the National Outstanding Eagle Award. An advocate for veteran’s causes he serves on the boards of Americas Warrior Partnership and Blue Star Families. John holds BS and MBA degrees from Fordham University, and an MIPP degree from The Johns Hopkins University (SAIS).
