US-Taiwan Business Council chair highlights tech ties

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — US-Taiwan Business Council Chair Keith Krach lauded bilateral technological links in a meeting with Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Wednesday (Sept. 4).

Krach said Purdue University’s Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy recently established a Tech Diplomacy Academy, which would help companies develop tech leaders and promote global security, CNA reported. This platform is directly linked to Taiwan’s five key industries and is already being used by the US State Department and foreign ministries worldwide, he said. Krach is chair and co founder of the institute.

He also announced plans to establish a Global Trusted Tech Network and trusted tech certification center by the end of the year, with Taiwan’s former Minister of Digital Affairs Audrey Tang (唐鳳) as a member.

Cho pointed out that trade between Taiwan and the US is flourishing, with the trade volume reaching US$127.5 billion this year.

Taiwan’s semiconductor companies such as TSMC, GlobalWafers, and MediaTek have invested in the US, while American companies have established R&D centers in Taiwan, he said.

The premier said Taiwan and the US are more than just democratic partners—their cooperation in technology and economic ties are equally robust, further solidifying the democratic supply chain.

Cho said only freedom and democracy can lead to true prosperity and progress.
