Alex Wong

Vice Chairman of the U.S.-China Economic & Security Review Commission

It's of course an honor to contribute to the Global Tech Security Commission, but being part of this effort is also a grave duty. The future of American freedom and prosperity--and that of our friends and allies--increasingly hinges on whether revolutionary technologies will bolster our shared values or undermine them. It is vital that our values win out.

Alex Wong’s career has spanned the realms of national security, international commerce, and U.S. politics.  Alex served in the U.S. Department of State as the Deputy Special Representative for North Korea.  In that role, he was the number two negotiator in denuclearization talks with North Korea and he led the formulation and implementation of U.S. sanctions policy across multiple executive branch agencies. Prior to assuming his North Korea duties, Alex led the State Department’s efforts to implement the U.S. government’s Indo-Pacific Strategy as Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asian & Pacific Affairs.
