Transforming Hunger

You have earned so many honors at a young age. Forbes put you on there 30 under 30 list. Fast Company named you as one of the most creative people in business. You're a recipient of the Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award. Do you view yourself as a transformational leader?

Wow that's a very strong term. I think I mean I don't wake up in the morning I'm like I am a transformational leader no that is not how I think of myself. I definitely think that I am an activist. I think I'm a humanitarian I am I mean what does it mean to be a transformational leader?

I think it means you know the having an impact that's much much greater than just something that affects your life like you may have a great career you built your job along the way and you've amassed maybe a good salary for yourself but to be transformational it's just that to transform the society around you to transform people around you. Do you view yourself that way?

Then yeah absolutely. I mean we're gonna feed three million people with incredible food that would have otherwise been wasted. We have employed so many people. We have diverted so much food from landfill which is a you know improved our environment. We've helped businesses save you know millions of dollars and and nonprofits save millions of dollars so yeah I mean we have definitely fundamentally altered the community in the country in which we operate.
