The Power of Diverse Views

You were born in Russia. And I would imagine that going through that type of experience gives you a really different lens to view things through. For example, I’m an immigrant from Vietnam, and so I feel like I often look at things differently as well. Can you share with us the first time in the business world that you realize the advantage of divergent views?

Oh, gosh, I don’t know if I remember the very first time but I recognize the power of divergent views, diverse views, different perspectives and experiences brought to a workgroup on an ongoing basis. And we’ve tried to really architect that within our company here, where we try to create working groups that have a, not only diversity, but diversity in terms of their upbringing, where they’re from, their ethnicity, religion, things like this, but the experiences that they have in their life and how they’ve shaped their perspective and really try to hear everybody, you know, a full and complete picture on the situation before then executing feverishly on some type of decision.
So, it’s something that you know, it’s like they say America is a melting pot, I would say a melting pot, but the idea is you have to really mix everything in to really understand all the flavors that you want to get out of the dish.
