To go from no customers and to have the guts to keep going even though you did get one customer, a lot of people might have given up. What compelled you to keep going?

I knew with every ounce of my being that this was going to be something. Now, I didn’t know if we were going to be the ones. I felt we had as good a chance as anyone, but I knew that this category would become something. So, I had already quit my job three months before we launched the company, like I was all in. I knew there was going to be something here, but I really got that validation when I saw the customer reaction. And at that point, I knew if we could make one person feel like that, we can make millions feel like that at scale.
And that was a company worth building, right? When you can make people happy like that—you know, my nickname has been “the mayor” since kindergarten. I bring people together, I make people happy, but I’ve never made anybody that happy where they are jumping up for joy or crying like these reaction videos you see from Cameo.
And to me as an entrepreneur, I knew that that company needed to exist. And I was like, “You know, we’re going to build that company.”
