Happy International Women’s Day! As the Global Mentor Network marks this occasion, we want to honor the contributions of women in tech, business, media, sports, and the nonprofit sector. Celebrating International Women’s Day 2022

Happy International Women’s Day! As the Global Mentor Network marks this occasion, we want to honor the contributions of women in tech, business, media, sports, and the nonprofit sector. We also want to acknowledge the critical work being done by our female mentors to empower other women and close the gender gap across various industries.

Here on our website, we have shared the personal stories of our women mentors – from Google to the Girl Scouts – who have overcome adversity in the workplace and continue to open the door to future female leaders.

Some highlights include Google and Alphabet CFO, Ruth Porat, who believes that when it comes to gender equality, it is a company’s “programs and policies that reinforce the tone from the top…to ensure that women have extraordinary opportunities to rise up throughout the organization.”

Our conversation with Amy Banse, the former Managing Director of Comcast Ventures, provides insight into a reality that many women and mothers face – working two jobs at the same time, at the workplace and at home. So how can women achieve that work-life balance? Amy believes we aren’t going to see “true gender parity in the workplace, until we also see gender parity at home.”

And Nikole Collins-Puri has championed equity in STEM education through her work as CEO of Techbridge Girls. The girls in the program often do not see people who look like them in positions of leadership in tech. Nikole’s mission is to change that. She says that begins with changing the narrative and making sure “the girls have access to STEM education that speaks to their interests, their values, their cultures, and their environments.”

These are just a few of many empowering words and sentiments from our inspiring women mentors. Of course, the fight for gender parity is far from over. Check out our collection of GMN videos to learn more about how our leaders are driving impact and uplifting women, so that one day future generations will live in a more equal and just society.
