I want to talk a little bit about your community work as well. You’re not only dedicated to your professional job of course, but also to your community. For example, you founded the Women’s General Council Network, you’re also on the board of the nonprofit foundation, the Asian Pacific Fund. What would you say are your top three values, and how do you assess alignment between those values and your actions?

Jan Kang

My top three values, that’s a tough one. I would have to say, honesty is very important to me, both to myself and to others. It’s easier, I think, to be honest with others than with myself sometimes. Generosity in spirit, understanding, and also of course, financially, giving back, and responsibility to be accountable, both for what we do, and to recognize that we also have responsibility to others in the world around us.
And WGCN and APF are both great groups, and I feel like they have enriched my life as much as I feel like I’ve given to them, even more.
