Not being afraid to jump in water over your head. It’s a recurring theme in a lot of our mentor conversations. Check out what Tim Draper does when he talks with Draper University students about the first step in entrepreneurship.

Thuy

You've done some crazy things including jumping into a pool in full suit and tie, and then telling all your students at Draper University to do the same thing.

I don't tell them anything. Encourage. I say what is the first step to entrepreneurship. What is the first thing you guys all need to do? What do you have to do now, you want to start a business what you have to do now? And I say take the first step. So I take the first step right into the pool. And it's like you're taking a step into the unknown, and that's the thinking that I'm passing on to these entrepreneurs. Take a step into the unknown, see what it's like and some of them are jumping in, they don't even know how to swim and we have to pull them out, But they're jumping in and they're kind of saying, I'm willing to take that first step toward entrepreneurship. And it's risky, you know take a chance It could be any kind of a chance Anyway that's are Many of the times on the first day we will do that. On the first day? First day of school, yeah of course. We've only got them for five weeks. That's quite a quick way to sort out those who are ready to take the plunge and those who aren't. Well, it turns out most of them are ready for the plunge.
