Your mom encouraged you to take the job at VSP fresh out of college, and you rose through the ranks to become VSP vision care’s first female president, that’s got to feel pretty good. What would you say has kept you there for so long? What’s your greater purpose?

Well, it’s funny, just thinking back. My first day, I was walking through this hallway that had pictures of people who had been there for 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, and I thought, who would stay at a company for 20 years?

You.

Now I know why. I mean, VSP from the moment I started, has always been a purpose driven organization. And that purpose is something that has really connected with me and is something that really is meaningful to me and makes a difference in me wanting to get up every day and engage in work, and work on really challenging problems with my team. And so now I look back and I think this is exactly why people stay as long as they do, is that commitment to aligning great work with purpose, and our purpose of empowering human potential through sight is something that I think is really impactful.
