Nature vs. Nurture

How much of that determination and perseverance, Jim, would you say came from within you and how much of it came from your parents? Where did you get that will to succeed from when you were faced with macular degeneration at such a young age? Eight years old is super young.

You know, I think I had great friends who took no prisoners with me that held me to the same expectations they held each other to my parents held me to those expectations. Again, it didn't mean I didn’t make a lot of mistakes throughout life. You continually learn and grow. But learning from my mistakes and then keeping at it, knock me down, get back up again was probably a part of my life, but I got that from role models too. So the people that I saw in my life doing that, I was able to see other people do that. So that was probably a blend of a little bit of my internal heart and a lot of external influence.
