Well, first of all, it was their belief in people and believing that people have the inherent capacity to improve themselves and their own community, and I had come from the city of Detroit and in some ways, I feel like I had benefited from programs similar to the ones at the Kellogg Foundation and I saw an immediate connection to the work because I could have been one of those children that they've supported, and because of the effort, was given an opportunity to thrive and in many ways, this is my way to give back fully into the work of the Kellogg Foundation and what I wanted to do with my own life and career.
