I want to talk about that, the team performance. You have to constantly assemble high performing teams. What would you say are the three most crucial elements for a high performing team?

The three most crucial elements would be trust, delegation, and ensuring that you are treating them with respect and paying them their worth. I mean, let’s face it, for the last 10 years, Silicon Valley has been a super challenging place to recruit top talent. And my philosophy is to build a high performing team. You’ve got to drive accountability. So, again, most high performers do not want to be in a team with low performers.
So, you need to be able to drive accountability. You need to be able to show that low performers will be held accountable. And therefore, if the low performers are held accountable, everybody somehow rises to be a high performer. So, you need to build a team of all high performers. And that will motivate the team to stay together. Nobody wants to be in a team that, you may be the best player on the team. But if you’re on a team where there’s a bunch of not so good players, it’s just not fun.
The other part of it is to make sure that you’re delegating and you’re giving the team an opportunity to grow. Everybody wants to be able to grow in their jobs. So, that’s the second part I would say. And the third part is, pay them what they’re worth. You’ve got to get out there and make sure your market data is correct. Your market data is up to date. And you’ve got to always be working with HR to ensure that you are compensating the team for their value because this is a very competitive area and to maintain top talent, you really need to make sure you’re on top of that market data.
