Betting on a Big Idea

You have two degrees, both in engineering. You hold degrees from Stanford. You’ve held leadership roles at Sun and Oracle. This is your first time though starting a company, what made you want to become an entrepreneur?

Yeah, it’s been a great journey. It’s not my first time at startups. I had been at other startups before and been fairly early in them. But if you’re in Silicon Valley, you certainly have the idea that, hey, you can really change the world by creating something that’s disruptive and something that, to be honest, is not in the purview of what large companies do. And that’s true. I think that’s something startups can do, take really big bets, things that are outside what most big companies will think is reasonable ideas to execute. And you can take those and try to bring those to market. And I think we’ve had a long history of startups really playing that role in Silicon Valley. And so for me, it’s always been something I really enjoyed at a startups. And so the time was right for us to come again and do something like that. And it’s been a great journey at SambaNova so far.
