Be Yourself

I love hearing the passion and the enthusiasm in your voice when you talk about the ocean and SOA. I'm wondering how do you go about inspiring people. What's your secret sauce for that?

I would say that being myself and leading by example is really important to me, because there's a lot of people out there that talk but they donÕt necessarily walk the walk. For me, being able to, for example, I'm vegan, and obviously being vegan, being plant-based is important to the environment. I went into this career building SOA right after college, so I took a big risk and became an entrepreneur. And so I do think that many people find inspiration in seeing a role model, seeing what they could do, what steps they could take. For me, it's just being very true to myself and being true to what I want in life and not being afraid to speak my mind. That's something that some people have found very refreshing in conversations that are high level, where everyone is talking around in circles around the problem, and I'm just like, you have to solve this in the next two to three years. You can't be putting out 10 to 20 year targets. So I think that folks find that inspirational.
