I’m sure you’ve had numerous opportunities to work elsewhere over the years, but you have chosen to stay at Juniper all these years, pretty much for your entire career. What has motivated or inspired you to stay there?

Probably two things. The first is the people. And it goes exactly to the point I just made around the team. The opportunity to work with and learn from amazing people, great talent, passionate teammates, that are really out to change the world, to change an industry. So that’s, to this day, something that keeps me here, keeps me very motivated. But I think the other thing is, it goes back to my engineering roots. I’m a technologist at heart. And I think engineers want to work for a company that has a purpose.
So, Juniper, we develop switching, routing, security appliances, software that ties this all together. But we are up to something far bigger than just equipment that goes into a central office or an IT closet, what we are doing at Juniper, in my mind, really matters. Our customers are literally changing the world, and we’re helping energy providers deliver clean wind energy securely across the globe.
In Alaska, we’re helping medical providers in a very rugged domain where it’s difficult to send doctors. We’re helping customers transform the economics of space travel, and getting people on Mars at some point in the future. So, I’m super proud of the mission that we’re on. And I find that mission incredibly motivating to me. And that’s another really important reason that has kept me here for so long.
