You’re also a leader outside of Waymo. For example, in the past, you’ve been a member of the Bay Area Council, which works on some of the office social issues in the San Francisco Bay Area. You’re now a board member at Intuit. Why is this outside work so important to you?

Take the opportunity, one, to drive impact. Intuit, the opportunity to join that board when they’re so focused on small businesses and self-employed, putting more money in people’s pocket, that’s an opportunity to drive impact.

Small business is an issue that’s near and dear to my heart, and so I think, making sure that I’m learning at work and then using opportunities to add value and learn, in the case of Intuit, was really important to me. And also, they’re just legacy leaders in the Bay Area and in the country in the world. And I always want to have an opportunity to continue to learn from them.
