Can you tell us about a moment where an out-of-the-box suggestion or a question helped you solve a problem that you or your team or perhaps the entire company was facing? What were the circumstances surrounding that innovative solution that you came up with?

You know, it happens very often. And one of our goals at Coupa, one of our core values is just focus on results. So very often we get into meeting and we visualize the result that we want to have, which is, let’s say we just finished a conference, we want to have the most incredible conference, we want the people to walk away understanding our company’s strategy, we want them to come away feeling inspired and happy.
So then we set that problem statement out, and then we look around the room, okay, what are the skill sets that we have that can help us achieve that? We have an individual that’s incredible at editing videos, you know, we gave him the latitude, he created some of the most incredible videos for that conference to show the audience. We have someone who’s incredibly creative at design, and they designed all the physical elements of that conference we have. We have others that are great at pulling consumers together.
So it happens all the time for us. The key for me is trying to really unlock the personal potential of every one of my colleagues to the best of my ability, to create a platform for what we call personal professional self-expression. And that for me begins with a clarity of what you want to achieve, and then the room for people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and thoughts to step up and joyously contribute, really joyously contribute.
