Tackled Challenges and Opportunities in Building the World’s Trusted Tech Stack

Washington, DC, July 25, 2025 — The Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue,  in partnership with MediaTek, convened senior officials from Congress and the U.S. Departments of State and Commerce alongside global semiconductor leaders for a high-level forum on the future of American and allied technological leadership. The focus: how the United States and its allies can build and deploy the world’s trusted tech stack—from semiconductors and AI to quantum computing and next-gen supply chains.

The forum brought together top executives from MediaTek, ASML, Intel, Qualcomm, SEMI, SK Group and Tokyo Electron—leaders shaping the future of the global semiconductor industry.

“Semiconductors power everything, from the devices in our pockets to the security of our nations,” said Michelle Giuda, CEO of the Krach Institute. “They are the core of the trusted tech stack, and this forum was about bringing together the right people, ideas and partnerships to make sure trusted technology wins.”

The event featured two panel discussions.

  • “Strengthening Domestic Semiconductor Capabilities” brought together leaders from SEMI, Intel, IBM and NVIDIA to examine how American companies can partner with the government to enhance national security and drive economic growth.
  • “Building Allied Semiconductor Resilience” featured executives from MediaTek, ASML, SK Group and Tokyo Electron in a dialogue on global coordination, economic partnership and workforce development to enhance the proliferation of trusted semiconductor supply chains.

Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the CCP, underscored the stakes: “Semiconductors, AI, quantum computing—these aren’t just economic assets. They’re the backbone of national security, diplomacy, and global power.”

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the CCP, opened the forum by spotlighting the role of talent in sustaining American and allied leadership. His remarks set the stage for Purdue President Mung Chiang, who highlighted Purdue’s role as the first university to launch a full semiconductor degree program and its global partnerships with leading semiconductor companies, including MediaTek, TSMC, SK Hynix, IMEC, Tokyo Electron and ASML.

Featured speakers included:

  • Stewart Barber, Senior Director of Government Affairs, NVIDIA
  • Kathleen Kingscott, Senior Advisor, IBM Research
  • Michael Mansour II, Director, Government Relations at Semiconductors & AI, SK Group
  • Steve Pinkos, Senior Director, Security Policy, Intel
