PMI’s Worldwide Network To Gain Training on Emerging and Trusted Technologies
Washington, DC, May 7, 2025 — The Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue today announced a strategic partnership with the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading association for project professionals, to deliver its Tech Diplomacy Academy to PMI’s global membership. The Tech Diplomacy Academy is a first-of-its-kind, scalable online training platform built to prepare leaders at the intersection of technology, security and geopolitics. The Academy draws on the engineering strength of Purdue University, consistently ranked among the top five engineering institutions in the United States and a leader in national security innovation.
Starting in June 2025, PMI’s community of 740,000 members, will gain access to the Tech Diplomacy Academy’s Tech Primer Series, including more than 20 online, on-demand courses across emerging technologies, such as AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, 5G and more, empowering them with a powerful new skillset at the intersection of technology and global leadership. Every course completed generates a certificate and badge from the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, along with downloadable playbooks and materials. The partnership reflects a shared belief that understanding how technology intersects with business and geopolitics is no longer optional but essential for project leaders.
“Today’s project professionals play a pivotal role on the front lines of global competition and national security—an emerging responsibility that calls for new tools and training,” said Michelle Giuda, CEO of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue. “They’re managing initiatives that involve some of the most contested technologies in the world. Through this partnership, we’re equipping PMI’s global network to lead with confidence, foresight, and integrity—and to advance trusted tech that strengthens both business and free societies. We applaud PMI for its leadership and foresight in preparing professionals for this new era.”
“The Tech Diplomacy Academy’s curriculum complements PMI’s vision of enabling project professionals to lead change and advise in a complex, fast-evolving world,” said Johannes Heinlein, Chief Growth Officer at PMI. “By combining the Academy’s unique training with PMI’s global reach, we’re equipping professionals at every level to manage not only complexity, but consequence—especially in the context of global tech competition and responsible innovation.”
The partnership will officially launch in June 2025. PMI will make Tech Diplomacy Academy courses available to its members and offer preferred pricing for enterprise customers seeking to equip their full teams.
